Let’s declutter your home!

  • Can't find anything in a hurry?

  • Too embarrassed to have guests?

  • Drowning in paperwork?

  • Want some help with a house move?

  • Just feeling totally overwhelmed with stuff?

WHAT DO WE DO?

GENERAL DECLUTTERING
We can work with you to declutter any room in your home: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, playroom,
wardrobe, home office, lounge, loft or garage.

ROOM ORGANISING
As well as decluttering any space in your home, we can also re-organise spaces to ensure you get the most out of them. Having organised spaces throughout your home can reduce stress levels and give you a greater sense of control.

MOVING HOME
Preparing your home for viewings and the estate agent's photos quicker than if you had to do it all yourself, with the additional service of  organising your belongings to make it easier for you (or the movers) to pack when the time comes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Initial phone call to discuss your needs

  • Home visit if needed to assess any additional requirements

  • Discuss and develop an action plan

  • Schedule and book your decluttering session(s). If a home visit is reuired prior, we can also start deluttering on that same day. start or arrange an appointment for another day.

  • Decluttering sessions typically last a maximum of 6 hours per day, as it can be a mentally and emotionally difficult task for clients.

THE BENEFITS

Decluttering and re-organising means letting go of the things that no longer serve you, with the aim to add the following to your life:

  • Time – an organised space means that you can find things more easily, saving you time

  • Space – most people have enough storage space. Once you clutter and re-organise what's left, you will be amazed at the additional space you can create.

  • Clarity and focus – study after study has found that being surrounded by clutter takes its toll on your mind. A cluttered space can make you feel restless. Once you declutter, it quite literally takes a load off your mind, allowing you to turn your focus to accomplishing other goals.

  • Concentration – linked to the point above; with improved clarity and focus comes improved concentration

  • Improved sleep – it’s been proven that calm and organised space can clear the mind and improve the quality and length of sleep.

  • Better mood – Our environment can impact our mood. If our surroundings stress us out, we feel the impact. Clutter can make us cranky and sends a visual sign to you that things are not in the places you want or need them, causing sadness, frustration and even self-depreciation. When you're decluttering, you're problem-solving and therefore gaining energy from the visual accomplishments of decluttering. Reducing the clutter in our lives—be it physical, digital or otherwise—allows us to tackle stressors head-on, which benefits our mental health for the long-term.

PRICES

Once we’ve had our initial consultation, we'll come back to you with a plan detailing approximate timescales and costs. We charge £30 an hour for all appointments Mon-Fri and £38 an hour for weekend working.

Travel
For clients based more than 15 miles from our base in Lewisham, we may include a mileage charge (45p per mile) but will discuss this with during our initial consultation.

Recycling, Selling, Donating, Disposing
We love making sure items that you no longer need go to a good home. We support clients to sell, recycle and donate unwanted items. Working hard to make sure that disposed-of items don't end up in landfill unless they absolutely have to. We also work with a network of charities and local organisations and can find a home for almost anything.

QUESTIONS?

MY HOME IS IN SUCH A MESS THAT I WOULD BE EMBARRASSED TO SHOW YOU AROUND

Don't be embarrassed. We are here to help you, not judge you. The hardest bit will be picking up the phone and making that first step towards a more organised home.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHERE TO START?

Sometimes, the best place to start organising is the area that is bothering you the most. But sometimes, that can also be inefficient so this is something we can discuss with you to work out the best route.

DO YOU CLEAN?

We will clean shelves and under cupboards where it will assist the decluttering process, but we don't offer a full cleaning service. If this is required we can make suggestions about what companies you could use.

HOW LONG DOES AN ORGANISING / DECLUTTERING SESSION TAKE?

  • That really depends upon how much you want to do and your decision-making process. It can be helpful to book a preliminary session to tackle a room or a set of belongings and from that, you can decide if you’d like us to expand into other areas of your home

  • If you are very clear on how much you’d like to achieve, we will be able to give you a more definite timescale
and therefore quote for the work

WHICH AREAS DO YOU COVER?

Although we're located in London, we're very happy to work anywhere (decluttering needed in the Carribean anyone?) but typically within 15 miles of Lewisham. For that reason, we may include a mileage charge to quote for work more than 15 miles away, but we'll explain this as part of our initial consultation.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO BEFORE OR DURING A SESSION?

A couple of things:

  • Have an open mind. Presumably you’ve got in touch with us because you want to make a change so start to think about how you would like to feel at the end of your Clutternut journey and what you might be willing to let go of to make that change.

  • Generally, we find that once the decluttering phase is complete, most people have enough storage space and solutions as is, so please refrain from buying boxes or shelving in advance as this may only create more clutter. If you do end up needing additional storage solutions, we can discuss this as part of the work and agree on the best method.

WILL YOU MAKE ME THROW THINGS OUT?

My favourite definition of an organiser and declutterer is ”someone who supports evaluation, decision making and action around objects and space.” Therefore, I hope you will realise that we won’t “make” you do anything but will help you decide what is of value and adds purpose to your space and your life.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ANYTHING I NO LONGER NEED?

Any items that you choose to get rid of will be recycled wherever possible using local charity shops and your local recycling centre etc. You may have items you can sell and we can advise you how to do this yourself. We are not able to take stuff to the tip for you due to Waste Carrier legislation but can take anything to the Charity Shop and will assist you to dispose of items on the day we declutter them.

I'M NOT ABLE TO PHYSICALLY HELP WITH THE DECLUTTERING - IS THAT OK?

We help clients from all backgrounds and of varying levels of physical mobility. Ultimately what we really need is your brain for some decision-making and we can do the rest!
